Take a Recipe. Share a Recipe.
Design for my class about the Philadelphia Mural Arts program of a community recipe sharing project based at the Walnut Hill Community Farm in West Philadelphia. I was inspired by artists Candy Chang and Tattfoo Tan. I idea is that community members can exchange recipe ideas from the many cultures that coexist in the Walnut Hill neigborhood, while also learning the importance of eating a varied and colorful (nutrient-rich) diet. Each column of colored squares is a set of drawers that hold the recipes corresponding with different areas of the world. The colors on each square also correspond with the colors of the main ingredients found in the meal as well as match markers in the garden that indicate the color of each food being grown. People can also write their favorite foods on the surrounding chalkboard.
